Great Ocean Walk

The Great Ocean Walk which starts from Apollo Bay and has been designed for walkers to step on and off the trail so that they can experience the stunning natural beauty whilst still enjoying the creature comforts of comfortable hotels and great food. The Great Ocean Walk is regarded as one of the world’s most iconic walks and is on the list of “must do” activities for hikers and walking enthusiast across the world. 


The Great Ocean Walk passes through both Great Otway National Park and Port Campbell National Park, and overlooks two Marine Parks; Marengo Reef, and 12 Apostles Marine Park. Theworld renowned walk a challenging 104km to Glenample Homestead, near the famous 12 apostles.


 

Walkers of almost any ability can step on and step off sections of the 104-kilometre Great Ocean Walk trail. Complete a circuit walk for something new to see at every stage or return along the same path for a different perspective. Shuttle services are available for pick up and drop off between car parking locations, accommodation and key points along the trail. Short walks are less than 2-3 hours in length and are easy to hard in difficulty. Circuit and return walks are easily accessible from main park visitor nodes.

Anyone who has travelled the great ocean road will know that the trip between Apollo Bay and Princetown is almost entirely inland and so the Great Ocean Walk provides the only opportunity to see the entire section of coastline which is simply not possible by car. Favourite spots along the walk are Blanket Bay & Point Franklin for their beauty & sense of remoteness; Cape Otway for the impressive lighthouse and history;Aire River &Glenaire Beach for camping & stunning scenery, and Moonlight Head & Wreck Beach for the intricate rock patterns and photogenic Ship Anchors. 

Feel the freedom of walk in, walk off camping along the Great Ocean Walk route with eight tent pads catering for 2-3 person tents at each site. Drive-in sites for car-based camping are located at Blanket Bay, Parker Hill, Aire River East and West, and Johanna Beach. Facilities vary depending on the site. Parker Hill, Aire River and Johanna Beach drive-in campsites cater for larger groups in more open, grassy settings. There are seven purpose built hike-in Great Ocean Walk campsites for registered campers.
