Orakei Korako Cave and Thermal Park (The Hidden Valley)

Orakei Korako Cave and Thermal Park (The Hidden Valley)

"Orakei Korako is possibly the best thermal area left in New Zealand and one of the finest in the world"... Lonely Planet Guide

Orakei Korako is nestled between Rotorua and Taupo is an amazing place for both young and old. The experience you will take from this magnificent natural wonder will leave you feeling both exhilarated and humbled by the power and the beauty present.

There is a vast number of boiling hot springs to view as well as mud pools and extensive bush walks through areas of native flora and fauna. The Silica terraces which form the base of Orakei Korako Geyserland are noted as being some of the largest in the world. Orakei Korako has the greatest number of active geysers of any geothermal field in NZ, with the most variable and interesting changes. Possibly the highlight for most on the walk is the thermal Ruatapu Cave (sacred hole) extending some 120 feet down to a hot pool at the bottom.

Relax on the edge of the beautiful Waikato River with a cappuccino, select a snack or something more substantial from our fine selection of food. Stay a while in what can only be described as one of New Zealand's truly most beautiful regions.

Situated just 25 minutes north of Taupo and 45 minutes south of Rotorua, Orakei Korako is a pocket wonderland of geysers, silica terraces, hot springs, boiling mud pools and the majestic Ruatapu Caves.
