Seba Camp, set in the lush riverine forest in the heart of the Okavango Delta, has two distinctive features: it has been constructed as a family-friendly camp offering parents the opportunity to introduce their children to the magic of the African wild and it is also the base of a most fascinating elephant research project.
Seba Camp is a classic safari camp, set in an ancient riverine forest in the heart of Botswana's magical Okavango Delta, offers secluded, luxurious accommodation overlooking a seasonal floodplain and lagoon teeming with animal and bird life. Guests can enjoy more than game viewing, however, the camp is a base for unique research on elephant behaviour and a center for wildlife filmmakers. Seba is located in the beautiful Abu concession and the camp is named after one of the elephants released back to the wild from the nearby Abu Camp. The camp is open all year. Seba Camp is operated by Wilderness Safaris.

Room

Each of the large canvas tented rooms is elevated, with viewing decks over the lagoon. The tents are beautifully and individually furnished, and have wooden floors scattered with rugs. The beds have large ceiling-height headboards, which separate the sleeping area from the bathroom. They are very comfortable and furnished with crisp cotton bed linen, fluffy pillows, duvets, and blankets. There are bedside tables and reading lamps built into the headboard, and a ceiling fan over the beds. Each room also has a small table, armchair, and luggage rack, along with plenty of hanging space and shelving.  The bathroom is to the rear of the tent – it is very smart with tiled slate flooring, sink and a large mirror over. A flushing loo is separated from the main bathroom area by a canvas wall and curtain, and the shower is built into the other corner of the bathroom, slightly sunken, and has a giant “rain-shower"-style head. Hot and cold water are on tap, and you are provided with dressing gowns, fluffy towels and various toiletries including shampoo, conditioner, soap, body lotion, ear-buds and cotton wool. Mosquito repellant, “Doom" and mosquito coils are also provided. The family tents have two bathrooms, the only difference to the standard tent being that the children's bathroom has a bath, as well as a shower.

Seba Camp - Standard Tents

There are six twin bed tents. The beds can be moved together to make a double bed. There is one twin bedded guide/pilot room.

Seba Camp - Family Tent #4

Family tent number 4 has 2 bedrooms and a loft, sleeps a maximum of four guests . The Family tent has its own plunge pool, toys/game selection for children and two bathrooms.

Seba Camp - Family Tent #8

Family tent number 8 has 3 bedrooms and sleeps a maximum of six . The Family tent has its own plunge pool, toys/game selection for children and two bathrooms. The two family tents are decorated in a similar style to the other rooms, but are more than double the size. An enclosed corridor (with a large toy store) links two bedrooms, with doors at either end. In what would probably be the children's part of the tent, there is also a flight of wooden stairs, which leads up to a further lounge/play/bedroom area. The bigger of the two family tents has a very large decked area, complete with its own plunge pool and a hidden sandpit. The other one has a smaller upstairs area and no veranda. The view from the deck is directly over the lagoon to the front of the camp, and down the stairs from the deck there is a shady area with a couple of hammocks, perfect for lazing in the heat of the afternoon.

Dining

The dining and bar areas are also set on a raised saligna deck with spectacular views.

Recreation

Seba Camp is a year-round, multi-activity camp, offering game drives with experienced guides in open 4 x 4 vehicles during the day and night, as well as walking with an armed guide. When the flood waters arrive, mokoro trips and motor boating are also offered. Bird watching at Seba is exceptionally good. Trained guides are ready to advise on all aspects of the Okavango ecosystems in this, one of Africa's last remaining true wilderness areas. During winter, thanks to the high water levels, Seba is transformed into a water camp, with water-based activities taking precedence, such as mokoro, motorboat excursions and fishing, as well as walks and the usual game drives.
