The 66 elegant Pool Facing Rooms are located in the rooms blocks around the picturesque palms pool. These large spacious rooms with high ceilings and ensuite bathrooms, are decorated in warm colourful hues lending them a very inviting appearance. All rooms have balconies that overlook the Pool facing, colourful bouganvillea and frangipani trees. They have the pool, garden and partial sea views.

Premier Sea Facing Rooms



These newly redesigned rooms are built with quality and family comfort in mind. They incorporate elegant, splendid, comfortable and modern inspired designs. The Premier Sea Facing Rooms, are located on the ground floor with a direct view of the beach from the room’s verandah. These rooms are more spacious and have an extended verandah with a pergola, and two sun beds for your relaxation.

Sea Facing Studio Suites



There are 3 spacious Studio Suites with modern amenities and facilities. The suites are located on the ground floor, 1st and 2nd floors. They each have a double bed and a sofa-bed; a baby cot can be added upon request.

Presidential Suite



Sarova Whitesands offers 2 extremely spacious and well decorated Presidential Suites located in a serene, secluded spot, overlooking the palms pool. The truly luxurious suites each comprise of two superbly appointed master bedrooms ensuite, bathrooms and a Jacuzzi. The large lounge in each suite is attached to a kitchenette and a fully stocked bar. Exclusive car parking slots are located nearby, and a private butler is assigned and available round the clock to ensure a most comfortable stay. These suites also have two back rooms with twin beds and rear exit doors.

Executive Suite



There are 3 expansive one bedroom suites, the Executive Suites, on ground floor with spacious lounges and bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. The suites have an extra washroom near the sitting lounge. Dining at Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa is like embarking on a tour of the finest world cuisines. Guests have a wide choice of continental, Arabic, Swahili and Indian cuisine, all set out on magnificent displays. For fun and relaxation, the resort also has three lively bars offering vibrant entertainment. Pavillions restaurants

The Pavilions is the main dining restaurant that serves exceptional buffet-style cuisines at Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner for guest on all meal plan as well as non-in-house guests. Cuisine options include indigenous African, Continental, Asian, Arabic and Mediterranean. Breakfast is usually traditional English. Beverages available range from fresh juices to international wines and spirits. The restaurant has a capacity to seat 680 people. Entertainment is provided.

Minazi Café

With a capacity of 92 people, the restaurant is open 24-hours. The restaurant is not included in half or full board packages. Minazi is a Swahili word for coconut tree. It is the resort’s bistro style restaurant, snack bar and pizzeria with a wood-fired pizza oven that serves light meals, a rich variety of our signature freshly brewed coffee, large selection of premium wines, juices, smoothies, health drinks, and an enticing selection of Italian ice creams, milkshakes, smoothies and patisserie. The restaurant also has a special menu for children with a children’s buffet for early dinner where specially trained Sarova staff look after the children.

Lido Lounge - Seafood Restaurant

Lido Lounge is a Chaine des Rotisseurs certified fine dining, al-fresco restaurant set amidst the palms on the beach with a stunning ocean view. The outdoor terrace provides spectacular views of the sea. It serves fresh seafood in a variety of fresh cuisine dishes as well as traditional favourites like grilled prawns, lobsters and crab. We design intimate dinners on the beach to celebrate special moments with family. The restaurant has a capacity for 45 people and is open seven days a week (both lunch and dinner), subject to the weather.

Cocos Beach Bar

With breathtaking ocean views and outstanding entertainment, Cocos is the perfect place to unwind after a hectic day. There is a DJ every night, special salsa nights on Fridays, karaoke every Saturday and live dance or acrobat performances on other days. Cocos Beach Bar has a capacity of 150 people. Bar snacks and beverages are served all day with a special happy hour every evening from 06:00 pm to 07:00 pm.

Activities within the resort

Lawn Tennis The resort has two tennis courts and racquets and balls are provided on request.  Beach Volleyball A popular sport with most guests. The animation team organises daily matches for guests to participate in.  Table Tennis & Pool Tables Guests can also enjoy a game of table tennis or pool at their leisure.  Water Polo & Water Volleyball The animation team has a daily calendar of activities that include water sports that are held at the large Lido pool near the beach.  Archery Archery is a sport that involves the use of a bow and a number of arrows. The bow is used to shoot the arrows at targets, either static or moving. Archery is a fun and relaxing hobby that men and women of all ages can enjoy. It is a quiet, solitary sport that can be competitive or not, and doesnt require a whole lot of physical fitness or skill.

Swimming Pool

Sarova Whitesands has five large free-form swimming pools:  Lido Pool The pool has a built-in bar serving cocktails, alcoholic drinks, juices and other drinks and is the venue for pool aerobics each morning.  Children’s Pool & Slide Immensely popular with families and children, it features a small baby pool, and shallow children’s pool with a water slide.  Diving Pool With a depth of several feet at the deep end, the pool is safe for diving and also serves as the learning place for the Buccaneer Diving School.

Outdoor excursions

Fort Jesus This is a historical monument built by the Portuguese when they first invaded East Africa. In this place, many battles were fought between the Portuguese and Arabs for supremacy, and this fort was their first line of protection. Later the British used it as a prison. It is the oldest architecture in Mombasa, built by the Portuguese in 1593 for protection from the Arabs and the British. It is open for sightseeing between 8am-6pm.  Old Town Old town depicts Mombasa s mix of Arabic and Swahili influence. This is reflected in the historic buildings, narrow streets, huge carved Lamu doors, the old harbor and the Swahili style of dress.  The Elephant Tusks These are located along Moi Avenue in the Mombasa City. The two enormous tusks arch over both sides of the road. They were built in 1953 to welcome Princess Elizabeth who then became Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain whilst still in Kenya.  Haller Park Bamburi  This is a thriving ecosystem created from a rehabilitated limestone quarry. Key attractions include game, porcupines, peacocks, a snake park, fish farm, crocodile farm and a restaurant that specialises in game meat. It is home to a famous couple - Owen the hippo and Mzee the tortoise, who share an extraordinary bond. It is open between 8am-6pm. Ngomongo Village Ngomongo Villages is a new and popular local excursion. It is a collection of diverse tribal homesteads each complete with hut, cultivated crops, domestic and wild animals, wild animal traps, charms and fetishes, tin smiths and even a village witch doctor.  Each village has a tribe and specific village activities for you to engage in such as archery, rafting, tribal cuisine, hook fishing, grinding and pounding maize. The cultural village is open daily between 8am-5pm.  Mamba Village This is the largest crocodile farm in Africa. Apart from the popular feeding time, Mamba Village also has horse riding, camel riding and picturesque botanical gardens to visit. It is home to thousands of crocodiles of all ages and sizes. Feeding time is daily and is indeed an interesting sight. Mamba Village is open daily between 8am-6pm.  Rea Vipingo Vipingo Ridge is a destination for everyone who enjoys the best life has to offer. Set in 2,500 acres on Kenya’s North Coast, Vipingo Ridge brings a range of elements of luxury living together in a peaceful and secure gated community. It offers a wide range of amenities including: two 18 hole championship golf courses, private airstrip, game sanctuary, clubhouse, private beach club.

Shopping

The City Mall (formerly known as The Nyali Mall) is Mombasa’s first truly ultra modern shopping mall and leisure centre. The mall adjoins the existing Nakumatt Nyali complex, already the most popular and busiest shopping centre in the North Coast, inter-connected to form a single shopping and leisure experience for the public. City Mall has fulfilled a lack of retail and leisure space in Mombasa and has set a new standard by offering ultra-modern shopping environment and facilities. The mall caters for the needs of a fast expanding middle class income group residing in the surrounding areas and for tourists staying in the numerous nearby hotels and apartments.  The mall comprises 7 floors that include 2 lower basement parking floors, 4 shopping and leisure floors above ground with retail units, banking halls, fashion brands, cinemas, fast food stalls, restaurants and cafés. All floors are served with elevators and shopping and leisure floors also have escalators.  Safe and secure parking is also provided in the new mall.

Marine

Mombasa Marine Park Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort has the longest stretch of natural beachfront on the east African coast. It is classified as a Marine Park by the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) to protect the sea animals, plants and coral reef. The Blue Lagoon Water Sports Centre located within the resort enables guests to visit the reef in glass bottom boats to view the spectacular marine life. You can also choose to dive or snorkel among the tropical fish near the coral reef. KWS collects a park fee charged to both Kenya residents and non-residents wishing to visit the reef or go snorkelling.  Deep-Sea Diving Buccaneer Diving, the biggest diving operator on the north coast led by Kenya s only PADI Course Director, has its premier IDC Centre at Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort where you can learn diving and experienced divers can go deep-sea diving with Buccaneer. Tulia is the Swahili word for relax and the Tulia Spa at Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort is designed to help you relax and rejuvenate. The Spa bandas are set on greens at the beach side at one end of the resort, designed for privacy and relaxation in the quiet zone.
