Famous for rocks towering from the edge of the shoreline, long sandy stretches of beach and beautiful parks, Cannon Beach is situated in northwest Oregon. Cannon Beach is a popular resort for tourists taking holidays to Oregon and offers a wide stretch of sand and spectacular views of the jagged coastal rocks. Hay Stack Rock is the largest of them all, and believed to be one of the world’s largest monoliths.
Close by is Seaside, another popular resort town that’s near the surf breaks and beaches. Nestled some miles north of Cannon Beach is Astoria which lies at the mouth of the Columbia River. Astoria is as historically important as the location of the Lewis & Clark National Historic Park, a replica of the famed explorers’ Fort Clastop. Fort Stevens is a slightly more modern relic, a military post that is today a state park preserving a history that spans the Civil War through to the Second World War.
