Very comfortable 4-star accommodations in an untamed natural environment: this is the concept of the Chic-Chocs Mountain Lodge. Unique in Eastern canada, it is perched at an altitude of 615 metres in the heart of Réserve faunique de Matane. Well-being, pleasure and tranquility are key words here. Inside the lodge you'll find a cozy atmosphere where nothing is neglected by the innkeeper and his team. Outside, there are 60 km2 of nature where you can enjoy your favourite activities in the company of experienced guides. After relaxing in the spa, sip a glass of wine by the fireplace while the head chef makes supper for you! Only 18 rooms: privacy guaranteed.

Imagine delicious comfort in the heart of nature, all tastefully designed with respect for the natural environment. The Chic-Chocs mountain Lodge has a unique experience in store for you. With a maximum of 36 guests and common areas that invite discussions, a friendly atmosphere is guaranteed. The view is magnificent, peacefulness reigns. You can relax...

The Lodge

The 18 rooms each have 2 single beds or 1 king-size bed and a complete bathroom. The Lodge provides bathrobes, linens, towels, biodegradable soap and shampoo, and a hair dryer. There are no televisions, phones or clock alarm in the rooms but a telephone line and an Internet station are available to Lodge customers.

Dining

In the evening, after a drink by the fireplace, everyone gets together around big wooden tables reminiscent of those from family kitchens of the past. The guides serve warm bread and big steaming dishes to share. Conversations fuse around healthy cuisine featuring fish and game – all in the company of the Auberge team.

The Lodge's Restaurant

The chef's healthy and delicious meals feature fish and game, and the window-lined dining room is a friendly space. Everyone dines together at large tables, a seating arrangement that invites discussions among guests.

Activity

With the help of the guides, you can plan your activities in total safety and make the choices that most appeal to you. Several outdoor facilities are available on site. At your convenience, you can explore the Lodge's surroundings or opt for guided activities.

Hiking

Enjoy a short hike or a backpacking trek either alone or with a guide. Anything is possible here. From dense forest to tundra, the trails cut through a variety of mountainous landscapes. You can also explore barren peaks over 1,000 m high, and get a sense of the territory's immensity.

Mountain Biking

Imagine over 100 km of forest roads...just for you! Explore the heart of this untamed territory on a mountain bike, either with or without a guide. Along the way there are many lakes and rivers where you can stop and take a scenic break. Bike provided (helmet not provided).

Flora Observation

Enjoy a change of scenery kilometre after kilometre. From valleys to summits, the vegetation varies with the landscape. A fir-yellow birch stand here, alpine tundra up there...and everywhere, rare and protected species. Beautiful discoveries in store!

Canyoning

A new activity is now available! Canyoning alternates between hiking, rappelling, and swimming and involves making your way through a rugged and steep-sided valley. This activity is offered by our partner Eskamer. and takes place on a stream, Ruisseau Beaulieu, that flows by the base of Mont Nicol-Albert. You'll be fully equipped from your head to your feet, as well as provided with meals and snacks.

Both indoors and outdoors, everything at the Lodge invites relaxation. From the spa to the sauna, from panoramic balconies to comfortable sofas, wherever you go, the same peacefulness reigns. Wildlife Watching

Be on the lookout: Québec's three great members of the deer family share the Lodge's territory with you. With an average of 33 animals/10-km2, moose greatly outnumber people here! The area's caribou and white-tailed deer also increase your chances of encounters. Look to the sky as well. It is full of birds of prey (eagles, buzzards, falcons).

Snowshoeing

On or off the trails, make your mark in the fresh and abundant snow. All of them lead to memorable landscapes: panoramic mountain peaks, sunken valleys, fir trees heavy with snow, and much more. Keep your eyes peeled for signs of animals, listen to the silence and savour the present moment. Snowshoes and poles provided.

Alpine Touring

The Mountain Lodge is the perfect place to discover or practise alpine touring. A cross between off-trail cross country skiing and downhill skiing, this sport delights fans of powder snow. Pristine white snowfields, open glades and 400 m altitude differences are calling! All equipment provided. No mechanical ski lift.

Hok Skiing

A mixture of snowshoeing and skiing, Hok skiing promises you a new experience. It's accessible to all and requires no particular technique. The short wide skis fitted with climbing skins make the climbing easy and the ski back down slow. Ideal for good times in the powder snow! All equipment provided.

Splitboarding

This snowboard, inspired by alpine touring, splits in two. For climbing, the heels are mobile. For the descent, you join the two sections of the board together and adjust the bindings to create a real snowboard. The powdery snowfields are yours! All equipment provided (limited quantities). No mechanical ski lift.
