Chatham Bars Inn was originally developed in 1914, as a semi-private hunting lodge for wealthy Boston vacationers. Early advertisements boasted of "plastered, soundproof accommodations with electric lights, steam heat, long distance telephones, and private bathrooms featuring both fresh and salt water baths."The hotel soon operated its own farm, which provided fresh produce and dairy products for guests’ meals. It quickly earned a reputation as Cape Cod’s most elegant, self-contained tourist destination. Later, the Inn’s appeal was expanded with the addition of an adjacent 9-hole golf course.
Under its present owner, only the third in the past century, Chatham Bars Inn has undergone a $100 million renovation that has left nothing untouched. All rooms in the Main Inn were completely renovated, as were its restaurants and public rooms. The cottages were completely redesigned and reconstructed from scratch. Old world charm was retained but updated with every modern convenience and amenity.Since then, the Inn has won numerous awards including the prestigious Forbes Four-Star award. It has become a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, and has been named one of the top resorts in the world by Travel & Leisure Magazine, and the best hotel on Cape Cod by Boston Magazine.

Accomodation

The Historic Main Inn, Cottage Rooms and Spa Suites of Chatham Bars Inn all have something different to offer our guests. The Main Inn was first built in 1914 and has been painstakingly restored to provide elegance at every turn. The Cottage Rooms and Suites provide pristine views of Cape Cod and offer privacy and luxurious amenities. For the ultimate in true tranquility, pamper yourself in one of our Spa Suites. All rooms include: flat screen televisions, Bose Wave radios, luxurious linens, L’Occitane bath amenities, lush bathrobes, hair dryer, central air and Nespresso coffeemakers.

Ocean View Inn Room

All of our Ocean View Main Inn rooms are located on the second and third floor of the Historic Main Inn. These rooms feature their own private deck or balcony overlooking Chatham Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean where you may enjoy morning coffee watching the panoramic sunrise or pre-dinner cocktails as you watch the seals frolic in the surf. All offer queen size beds, fine linens and lush marble vanities in the bath.

Ocean View Presidential Suite

Our majestic Presidential Suite offers 1,120 square feet of living space and includes two separate bedrooms. The master quarters features an antique four-poster king bed with gas fireplace, and elegant marble master bath with a soaking tub. The second bedroom includes two queen size beds and full bathroom. The elegant living area features a dining table, wet bar, two gas fireplaces, half bath, and a generous area for entertaining. An expansive private deck provides sweeping ocean views and a perfect spot for sunbathing, relaxing or hosting friends.

Deluxe Main Inn Room

These deluxe rooms are located on the second and third floor on the back side of the Historic Main Inn. These intimate accommodations feature queen size beds, fine linens and lush marble vanities in the bath. Many of these rooms do feature a deck or balcony looking out the back of the Main Inn.

Ocean View Cottage Room

Located behind the Main Inn and near the golf course and spa, these rooms are ideal for a romantic getaway with serene views of our lushly landscaped grounds. Our Deluxe Cottage Rooms feature either one king or two queen size beds, hand painted furniture and fine linens. Some include a gas fireplace.

Deluxe Cottage Suite

Located above The Spa at Chatham Bars Inn, these twelve, adult-only suites have been designed with luxury, relaxation, and pampering in mind. These suites have either one king or two queen size beds, and are appointed with oversized hydrotherapy tubs, saunas, steam showers, and fireplaces. Spa Suites offer the utmost in privacy and privilege for guests desiring spa treatments in the comfort of their own suite. Spa Suite guests may also take advantage of our Spa’s exclusive outdoor relaxation pool with its private cabanas and Japanese Zen gardens.

Through our nearby 8 acre Farm at Chatham Bars Inn, we produce the freshest seasonal vegetables and berries picked daily for use in our restaurants. During the winter months, our two greenhouses produce the lettuces and micro greens we use in our winter salads.

Departing from the hotel dock every 30 minutes, the “Bar Tender”, our custom designed beach launch, provides complimentary shuttle service to and from the outer beach on Cape Cod National Seashore, one of the most beautiful barrier beaches in the world.
