The Cape Lodge Restaurant features seasonal local and home grown produce plucked from nearby oceans, local farms and our kitchen garden to create fresh innovative cuisine.  Our wine list is extensive and features both back vintages from Margaret River’s great wine estates and other Australian and international wine regions.

The Margaret River region is best known for surfing, swimming, forests and wine, but did you know that we also have some impressive caves? Whether you’re a veteran caver or just looking for something new to see on a rainy day, if you want to experience some spectacular underground scenery.

MARGARET RIVER GOLFING

The Margaret River Golf Club is a private club open to both new members and visitors. The club is located in the heart of the Margaret River Wine Region, just 5 minutes’ drive from the town centre, and situated on the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Coastal Ridge. The 6092 metre par 73 course is one of Western Australia’s most highly regarded country courses.

WHALE WATCHING

The Humpbacks and Southern Right whale migration patterns are to essentially travel to the cold waters around the Antarctic to feed during Summer and Autumn and then return to warmer waters for breeding and giving birth. The massive Blue whales can also be seen in the region as they make their own migration between the Antarctic krill feeding grounds and the warmer tropical waters around Western Australia. Interestingly, the Blue whales’ migration pattern depends on their age and sex, with the pregnant females migrating first and juveniles migrating later. The older ones also travel further up the coast each year than the younger members of the species.

DOLPHIN CENTRE

The Dolphin Discovery Centre is Australia’s premier wild dolphin experience, offering four levels of interaction including Interpretive Centre and Theatre, Interaction Zone, Dolphin Swim Encounters (accompanied by their marine biologist), and Dolphin Eco Cruises. 

BIKING

Dirty Detours is a small friendly mountain bike touring company, local to Margaret River. Being avid travellers and insatiable riders themselves, they take having fun very seriously, and showing you a good time is their profession.

DIVING

Cape Dive is the longest established dive store in Dunsborough, Western Australia (250km South of Perth). Their friendly, professional local crew will ensure you a diving adventure you will never forget.

HORSE RIDING

Join them for a half hour horse riding experience starting at charming Jesters Flat cottage. Learn the basics of horse riding on a gentle ride through the forest. 

SURFING

Try the fastest growing water sport, great for your core fitness and upper body toning. Lessons are for one and a half hours with everything included. Ocean and surf options available to suit all levels.

ABORIGINAL CULTURE

The Wardandi and Bibbulman people of the Busselton, Dunsborough and Margaret River areas of Australia’s south-west have walked this ancient land for almost 50,000 years. Together with other Aboriginal groups from an area that stretches from Kalbarri to Esperance, they are also known as Noongar. 

DEEP SEA FISHING

Boasting the highest fishing catch rate on the coast, Dean and crew will put you right on top of the South West’s most prize species and teach you how to reel them in before cleaning your catch to take home.

COOKING CLASSES WITH MICHAEL ELFWING

Our new Executive Chef Michael has worked in some of the World’s best kitchens including Heston Blummenthals’ Fat Duck, Cheong Liew’s Grange and with Mathias Dahlgren at Stockholm’s Grand Hotel. Michael’s culinary training is French enjoys modern regional cuisine creating a calendar of Cooking Classes where you will learn how to present a superb three course menu which can easily recreated at home.
